For Immediate Release

Lacey Township - July 11, 2013.  Representatives of Lacey American Youth Football (AYF), The Lacey Football Foundation, The Lacey Gridiron Club and Coach Lou Vircillo (Lacey High School Football Head Coach), met on the evening of July 10, 2013 for the purposes of insuring that the tradition that is "Lacey Football" continues at all age levels.

The Lacey Football Foundation (who represents the football alumni) and Coach Vircillo have recommended a cooperative structure between Lacey AYF and the Lacey Gridiron Club for the purpose of providing Lacey Township with the youth football programs it deserves.  The two organizations expressed and agreed on the importance of providing continuity between Lacey AYF and The Lacey Gridiron Club in order to provide the families of Lacey Township a comprehensive football experience at all levels.

For the 2013 Football Season, The Lacey Gridiron Club will assist in the recruitment of and provide the coaching staff for the "Pee Wee" age players.  This group consists of players from 9 to 11 weighing up to 139 pounds and 12 year olds up to 119 pounds.  The Pee Wee team will play their normal schedule against opponents in the Jersey Shore AYF League.

Families interested in signing up should contact Lacey Gridiron (or any of the football organizations).

The families of Lacey AYF will be participating in the Lacey Football Barbeque to be held on July 27, 2013 at Latitudes in Forked River (details at www.laceyfootballfoundation.org).  The purpose of the barbeque is to kick off the football season.

All football organizations believe that this cooperative structure is in the best interest of our youth and community.
